Dr. Pat Mosto (Dean, College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Sciences) provided students with some background information about water quality and water pollution parameters in lake environments - sources of pollution and how to detect them. Students then collected data on water parameters (temperature, pH, oxygen), examined the types of invertebrates and algae present (especially indicators of clean or polluted waters) and then drew some conclusions on the health of the lake. Themes for this workshop included biodiversity, human impacts in water bodies, quality indicators.
